Anything Can Happen
On Gameday

Introducing the ZOLL Game Changers: four standout student athletes joining Damar Hamlin to champion cardiac preparedness in youth sports.

Together, they’re inspiring communities to equip every facility with ZOLL AEDs, giving coaches, teammates, parents, and spectators the confidence to respond before EMS arrives.

THE GAME CHANGERS

Ensuring Every Youth Sport Is Ready to Act

Malia Samuels

Malia Samuels believes sudden cardiac arrest awareness is a social responsibility, whether it’s from stories like Damar Hamlin’s or the reality of cardiac emergencies increasing in sports. Malia wants communities to better understand that AEDs are for anyone to use in public and can help us all be game changers.

Ellie Breech

Ellie Breech’s passion for cardiac preparedness became deeply personal after her father suffered sudden cardiac arrest. In those critical moments before EMS arrived, an AED was nearby and provided immediate guidance and feedback that helped save his life. Ellie wants everyone to know that AEDs don’t just allow people to help, they coach them through how to respond with greater confidence.

Ke’Breion Winston

Ke’Breion Winston’s connection to cardiac health became personal after his grandmother experienced cardiac arrest. It opened his eyes to how quickly emergencies can happen and that AEDs are in communities for bystander use. Ke’Breion’s goal is to raise awareness for how AEDs can empower ordinary people to help because, as he says, “If you can see it and hear it, then you can do it” when every second counts.

Hailey Yentz

Hailey Yentz collapsed during track practice and had no pulse for nearly ten minutes. Athletic trainers with a solid emergency plan were her game changers. A nearby AED helped them initiate immediate CPR and restore her heartbeat before EMS arrived. Hailey is using her story to encourage athletes, parents, and coaches to always know “Where is the AED?” before sports begin, making AED awareness and retrieval as second nature as calling 911.

Youth Sports

The Preparedness Gap Behind the Game

Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death among young athletes, yet cardiac preparedness can vary dramatically from one youth sports facility to the next.

of parents (with kids under 18) wrongly believe all youth coaches are required to have CPR and AED training.

of parents believe all youth sports teams have access to a team AED, yet most U.S. states still do not specifically mandate teams to have one.

of parents do not know whether their child’s sports practice, meet, or game facility is equipped with AEDs.

I powered on the AED and the first thing I heard was the instruction to remain calm. That guidance really helped me recenter and continue.
